Halloween Couples Costume

After weeks of fretting over this year's most important holiday outfit my man came up with the perfect idea:

Yes.

Chris Cunningham

Chris Cunningham is the man for many reasons. Let me remind you of a few:

^^If you insist, fast forward to 4 minutes in...however, watching the whole thing is worth it. I'm all about the build up. My favorite movie is Death Proof for God's sakez.

Sometimes my brothers and I invent exclamatory terminology with words seemingly unrelated to the worst/best of situations. For example:

Cress |kres|
n. a small, pungently flavored leaf used in salads or as a garnish. Or, a plant of the mustard family whose leaves are cress.
or
v. a means of explaining feelings of ennui, ambivalence, and/or mild shock

Slice and Dice |slys end dice|

v. a methodical means of chopping vegetables, fruits, and other edible products using precision, skill and culinary intuition
or
v. a methodical means of chopping, knifing and shanking your victim in the throat, neck, chest and breast areas using muscular precision, intellectual domination, and all-out ninja prowess

Ricky, Becky, Susan |rickee, behkee, suzen|

all nouns. Three, common, American-English and British-English names two of which are abbreviated forms of 'Ricardo or Richard' and 'Rebecca'
or
n. three words used in fierce succession in which the speaker acts quickly, unloading the phrase to express self-satisfaction or uncertainty about what to say next

Buss |bəs|
n. a kiss (i know, we were surprised too)
or
n. used to express disgruntlement
alternate meaning: used in the phrase 'buss on krause' as a means of expressing work ethic or power

Daily Indulgence

Sometimes I write poetry:

(Still Born)

Today her eyes are glistening with wet,
I can hear the revolution of her body,
And I know that all is well; although anticipation

Seems to break this thought of mine.

No sense in feeling emotion,
This scene seems so familiar,
Her body pulses and struggles to maintain
This necessary cycle,
It’s not her fault that we must pull him out with chains.

All is well for now.

Morning fades into focus,
A different picture now,
Her boy is licking fallen milk,
And her eyes are covered in flies.

(Graveyard)

Prismatic peaks fall face down into laps,
And scan the sandy floor.
All the trash that’s left for archaeologists to discover,
Is drowned by darkness and space.

Only the blue born sky sees each white capped hood
For what it really is.

A tombstone.

"Driving down N.Broad St./A fight broke out/
Hit as hard as you can
motherfucker/get up/run
away in glory/leave your
brother to nurse
(inner bruising)/watching
it all from the idle passenger
seat, affected, thinking things
through for miles."

There's more where that came from...

Jeff Bark

A Good Citizen recently introduced me to the work of probably one of my new favorite photographers, Jeff Bark. His representation of the naked human form is stunning, fascinating, grotesque and beautiful all at once without seeming contrived or unremarkable.
